Chaim counts how you use AI coding tools and turns those numbers into a profile. This page explains exactly which numbers we collect, what we never touch, and the control you have over all of it.
1. What we never collect
The Chaim CLI and desktop app run on your computer and read the usage logs your AI tools already keep. They never send:
- your prompts, replies or conversations
- your source code, files or project names
- API keys, passwords or other secrets
- terminal commands or anything else from your screen
You can check this yourself: chaim sync --dry-run prints everything that would be sent, and sends nothing.
2. What we collect
| Data | Why |
|---|---|
| Token counts (input, output, cache) per model | Your totals, models and leaderboard rank |
| Session and message counts | Activity stats on your profile |
| Dates and the hour of activity | Your heatmap and peak coding hour |
| Model and tool names (e.g. Claude Opus 5, Codex) | Model breakdown and favourite model |
| Device: a one-way hashed ID, computer name and operating system | Listing your devices and stopping one computer from syncing to someone else's account |
| Account: email, Google or GitHub account ID | Signing you in. Your email is never shown publicly. |
| Your time zone, read from your browser when you open your account | Hidden by default. Shown on your profile only if you turn it on in Account → Profile. |
| Anything you add: name, username, picture, bio, country, city, links | Your public profile |
We don't import your Google or GitHub photo. Your picture is only what you upload.
3. What is public
Your profile, stats, badges and rank are public by default. Your country shows only if you pick one, and your time zone only if you turn it on. In Account → Privacy you can hide your token count, session count, heatmap, models or peak hour, or make your whole profile private. Hidden stats are also hidden from your badge, embeds and the JSON API.
5. Website analytics and cookies
The website always uses a sign-in cookie to keep you logged in. Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager, which count visits, pages viewed, rough location and device type, only load if you click Accept on the cookie banner. You can change your choice any time with Cookie settings in the footer. Vercel Analytics measures page speed and visits without cookies. This applies to the website only: the CLI and desktop app don't send analytics, and nothing from your AI logs is shared with Google.
6. Export and delete your data
- Export: download your data as JSON anytime in Account → Account.
- Remove a device: in Account → Devices.
- Deactivate: hides your profile. Nothing is deleted.
- Delete: your account and all its data are permanently erased 30 days after you ask. You can cancel within those 30 days.
7. Changes to this policy
If we change what we collect, we'll update this page and its date. Big changes will also be announced on the site.
